Jim graduated from the University or Victoria in 1976 with a degree in history and became a Certified General Accountant in 1986. Before opening Murphy and Murphy in 1988 with his spouse Trish, who is also a CGA, Jim had extensive experience in hospitality and construction sectors. Jim is a member of the CGA quarter century club. Since 2003 Jim has operated Murphy and Murphy’s White Rock location and is very knowledgeable about taxation issues of concern to seniors.
Previously Jim was the president of the British Columbia Association of Hospitality Accountants, Treasurer of Vancouver Racquets Club and then Bayside Squash Club.
In his spare time Jim enjoys swimming, playing the guitar, photography and cycling. Jim and Trish live in Tsawwassen and are proud parents to three sons all of whom are currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
