Jasper graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines in 2007 with a degree in nursing. Currently, he is finishing his Canadian nursing credentials from Thompson Rivers University. He moved to Canada in 2012 and worked with organizations who support people with disabilities. He is currently working in Semiahmoo House Society. He also lives in the Chorus Apartments in South Surrey that is owned and operated by UNITI. Chorus combines independent living units for people with developmental disabilities with affordable rental housing.
Jasper advocated for programs that promote inclusion and wellness of seniors in the community. One of the projects that he was involved in was designing the mosaic called “Pieced Together” that is set in the White Rock Library to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Canada. This encouraged different members of the community to create pieces that contributed to the completion of the artwork. He said that the mosaic is a mirror of society – diverse elements, with different stories that make up a bigger picture.
Jasper is a certified person-centred thinking trainer and applies these concepts in his work. In his free time, he enjoys sketching, painting and playing the guitar. He has experience in web-development, graphic arts and database management platforms.
