More than ever, we need your support as we reach out to vulnerable seniors in our community during the pandemic. Please help us help our vulnerable seniors – your donations make a difference.  A special thank you to those individuals who have supported us this past year – and for many past years. We are very grateful for the support. We also have many organizations who also support us.

Here is an update on what we’ve been doing these past few months as we adapted to our new reality and found ways to reach out to those who could not come to us: :

  • Seniors’ Centre Without Walls – telephone based social/recreational activities.

  • SHAREvirtually.com – We developed an online video platform for programming such as chair yoga, literature club, bingo, information sessions, appointments with our Family & Caregiver Support director, to name a few. People can continue to access our programs and services from the comfort and safety of their homes.
  • Cooking up Connections goes virtual – pre-COVID, we had people come together in our kitchen and cook a meal together. Since that isn’t possible we now do it through SHAREvirtually.com. Our wonderful volunteers deliver the food and recipe ahead of time and participants sign on to cook the meal together.

  • Expanded Better at Home services, including support with grocery ordering/delivery, and meal delivery.

  • Meal delivery – this means prepared meals sent to isolated seniors. Meals are provided by Sheila’s Catering and Semiahmoo House Society, as well as our own cooks. We are currently delivering over 200 meals per week. Your donations will help us increase that.

  • Telephone reassurance calls – making sure isolated seniors stay connected; if they have health questions, we will connect them to our nurse who will determine if any further action is required.

  • Arts & Crafts – we deliver art supplies, small canvas, bird houses, etc. for seniors to paint (while supplies last). Your donations can help us continue with popular service.
